The slogan “My body, my choice” is frequently used by the pro-abortion movement to assert that no one should dictate what they do with their own bodies, including the decision to end the life of a child growing inside their womb.
While the slogan,” My body, my choice,” may seem logical at first glance, actually our bodies belong to God., “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,” we learn in Corinthians. (1 Corinthians 10:26). We are God’s creation and belong to Him – soul, spirit, and body.
Honoring our body
Warnings about how we treat our bodies are prevalent in the scriptures. They caution against gluttony, drunkenness, and self-disfigurement. We can also sin against our bodies.
Some examples are:
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18
And put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony. Proverbs 23:2
Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat. Proverbs 23:2
Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:28)1
For Christians, the call to honor and protect our bodies is even greater, as our bodies are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you. 1 Corinthians 6:19
You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:20)
We’ve all been guilty of some things that harm our bodies, but the directive remains that they belong to the God who created them.
What about Reproductive freedom
Reproductive freedom has been awarded to us since the beginning of time. In the book of Genesis, the Lord commanded Adam and Eve to “Be fruitful and multiply.” In contrast, the lack of reproductive freedom was exemplified by the forced abortions during China’s one-child policy era. Abortion is not reproductive freedom, but the opposite, as abortion can make it more difficult to conceive and carry a child to term later.
Life is a blessing, not a curse
Unfortunately, many today have been brainwashed into believing that children are a hindrance instead of a blessing.
One person I admire because of his value for children is Elon Musk. He’s the richest man on earth and probably the smartest. He can have anything and everything this world offers, yet, he has stated that nothing even comes close to the joy and fulfillment of having children.
Tiny humans growing

What about the little human being growing inside a mother’s womb? Some say that life begins at conception and others say that it begins once it travels through the birth canal and takes its first breath. But in God’s eyes, the life of a person begins long before conception! We find evidence of this in the Bible.
God told Jeremiah the prophet that he knew him before he formed his body in the womb. God not only knew who he would be, he had already made a plan for his life. (Jeremiah 1:5) Jeremiah was destined to be a prophet of God.
But what about people who may not even have a relationship with God? Has God also known and planned their purpose?
The Pagan King Cyrus is mentioned by name in Isiah’s prophecy as the king who would allow the Jews to return to their homeland from Babylon. The prophecy was given 150 years before he even came to power! God not only knew King Cyrus long before he was born, but he also already had an important purpose for his life! (Isiah 44:28 – 45:1)
If such actions were taken for an ancient prophet and a Pagan king, we can be confident that there is also a plan for me, you, and every little human being residing in every womb today.
How cherished we are that the God of the universe not only fashioned us in His image but also preordained us for His purpose well before our arrival here!
Let them live
Never let Satan steal the life of your child. When you are carrying a child in your womb, guard it with all your heart. Protect it no matter how difficult the cost. For you do not know God’s wonderful plans for him or her…and for you!
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
